Motivating Moral Story - The Donkey

This is a motivating moral story of a donkey who fell into a well and how he got out of it and trotted off right in front of those who were trying to bury the donkey alive.

One day a farmer's donkey fell down into a well. The donkey cried piteously for hours at the top of his voice, as the farmer tried to figure out what to do. Finally the farmer decided that the donkey was old and the well needed to be covered up in any case if the donkey dies in it. So it just wasn't worth it to retrieve the donkey.

Then the farmer called all his neighbors to come over and help him to fill up the well. All of them took a shovel each and began to shovel dirt into the well. At first, the donkey realized what was happening and cried horribly pleading them to stop. He could not understand why human beings with better thinking power than him are doing such a stupid thing. Then, to everyone's amazement, the quieted down.

A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked down the well and was astonished at what he saw. With every shovel of dirt that fell on the donkey's back, the donkey was doing something amazing. He would shake it off and take a step up. This gave the farmer hope.

As the farmer's neighbors continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up. Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and trotted off!

The Moral of this Motivating Story.

Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. The trick to getting out of the well is to shake it off and take a step up. Each of our troubles is a stepping-stone.
