Once there were was man who sold all his belongings and went prospecting for gold.

He discovered a vein of the shining ore, staked a claim, and proceeded to get down to the serious business of getting the gold ore out of the mine.

As he put his wealth in employing people to dig the gold ore out for him something strange happened and the vein of gold ore disappeared!

He had come to the end of the rainbow and the pot of gold was no longer there. The man continued to employ more people to dig deeper, but without success.

Finally, he gave up in disgust. He sold his equipment and claim rights for a meager amount to a businessman and took a train back home.

The businessman who bought the claim hired an engineer to examine the rock strata of the mine.

The engineer advised him to continue digging in the same spot where the previous man had left off. And one foot deeper, the businessman struck gold…!

If only the other man had not given up and dug one foot more, he could have been a millionaire.

There was a boulder lying on a road. A businessman came along, stopped his vehicle cursed the king, his ministers, his government and went away by using another route.

A common man came saw the boulder, cursed everyone he thought was responsible for removing the boulder and being on a smaller vehicle, he could go around the boulder.

Many more learned people came that way and everyone did exactly the same, cursing the king & his government. Buy no one tried to remove the boulder off the road.

Then a poor man came along, pulling a hand cart. He stopped his cart, went to the boulder and tried to move the boulder. It took the man about 30 seconds to move the boulder clear of the road.

When he turned around, he saw a pouch where the boulder was. The poor man saw a note that said “Whoever produces this slip to me gets 1001 gold coins - The King.”

The next day’s newspapers carried the poor man’s commendation and photo.

Once again all those who saw the boulder but did not remove it, cursed the king and said “The king could have written the note on the boulder also.

Once a businessman was staying overnight in a village that had severe monkey menace. The businessman offered dollar 10 per monkey to the villagers if they could catch monkeys for him.

The entire villagers stopped working in their fields and became monkey catchers. They made good money for a few days.

The monkey population reduced and the villagers lost interest. The businessman hiked the rate to dollar 20 per monkey.

The villagers once again started doing the lucrative job with new vigour. But there were not many monkeys left to catch.

The businessman further raised the rate to dollar 50 a monkey, but told his assistant to do the business as he had to go away on a business trip.

The next day the assistant said to the villagers “Lets us have a deal. I will sell you as many monkeys you want at dollar 35 a monkey.

When the businessman returns, you can sell it to him for dollar 50, a clean dollar 15 profit without doing any work.

The villagers sold their belongings and fertile land to buy back more monkeys than they had sold till now, in the hope of a quick profit.

A couple of days later the assistant also vanished from the village. The villagers now have neither money nor land to cultivate and have more monkeys than they originally had to deal with.

A businessman went to a fishing village. A small boat with just one fisher man docked with a few large tuna. The man complimented the fisher man on the quality of his fish and asked how long it took to catch them. The fisher man said “only a little while.”

The businessman then asked why didn't he stay out longer and catch more fish. The fisherman said that he had enough to support his family's immediate needs. The businessman then asked the fisherman, "But what do you do with the rest of your time?"

The fisherman said to the businessman, "I sleep late, fish a little, play with my children, take siesta with my wife, stroll into the village each evening where I sip wine and play guitar with my amigos, I have a full and busy life."

The businessman started advising the fisher man, "I am a Harvard MBA. You should spend more time fishing and buy a bigger boat with the proceeds and then have a fleet of fishing boats, selling your catch directly to the processor, eventually opening your own cannery."

The businessman continued, "You would need to move to a City, where you will run your expanding enterprise. After about 15-20 years when the time is right you would sell your company stock to the public and become very rich”.

The fisherman asked the businessman “Then what?" The business man's answer was, "Then you would retire, move to a small coastal fishing village where you would sleep late, fish a little, play with your kids, take siesta with your wife, stroll to the village in the evenings where you could sip wine and play your guitar with your amigos."

The fisherman said in reply to the businessman, "Sir, that is what I am doing already."
